Hey there friend! Pull up a chair, and let’s have a heart-to-heart over coffee. You know, life is full of seasons—some where everything seems to be sprouting and blooming, and others where it feels like nothing is happening. If you’ve ever felt stuck in that waiting season, wondering where God is or why His promises seem delayed, you’re not alone. I get it. I’ve been there too.
That waiting season—the gap between seedtime and harvest—can be hard. But here’s what I want to share with you: God’s Word is like a seed, and it always accomplishes what He sends it to do (Isaiah 55:10-11). It may not always happen on our timeline, but His Word never returns empty. And when we understand that, we can navigate the gap with faith and purpose.
Let’s talk about what that looks like.
Staying the Course from Seedtime to Harvest
God created us to be fruitful—in our relationships, work, spiritual growth, and more. We instinctively long for progress. But sometimes it feels like our prayers are going unanswered, like we’re pouring faith into a bag with holes. That’s the gap I’m talking about.
During one of the toughest gaps my family faced, our granddaughter was diagnosed with terminal cancer. In my heart, I saw her healed. I imagined her starting kindergarten and even graduating from college. But between that vision and the doctors finally declaring her cancer-free, there was a long waiting season. It wasn’t easy, but I knew God had already given us the miracle. And when that healing came, we were finally holding our harvest in our arms. But it didn’t end there! Now, every time I share our family’s miracle, it becomes a seed of faith that I plant into the hearts of those who are also facing the impossible!
Friend, your faith journey has a life cycle too. And there are four key steps to staying the course until you see your harvest.
1. Know the Truth
Jesus said in John 8:31-32 that if we continue in His Word, we will know the truth, and the truth will set us free. That kind of knowing isn’t just head knowledge—it’s personal, relational, and experiential. It is an intimacy with the Word that God says is like a marriage! “For better or for worse. In sickness and in health…”
We can’t afford to be more familiar with our feelings than we are with God’s Word. Feelings change, but God’s Word is unchanging. So, dig into the Bible. Get to know the Author until His voice becomes unmistakable.
2. Meditate on the Word
Think about it, rehearse it, and let it sink deep into your heart. It’s like spending time with a friend—the more you do, the more their voice becomes familiar. When you know God’s voice through His Word, it speaks back to you in those tough moments.
3. Declare the Word
Once you’re convinced of God’s promises, start speaking them out loud. There’s power in your words. When Ezekiel prophesied to the dry bones, it was God’s Word through his mouth that brought them to life (Ezekiel 37).
Jesus said that if we speak to mountains and believe without doubting, they will move (Mark 11:23). But that kind of belief comes from knowing and meditating on the Word. Don’t skip those steps!
4. Maintain Your Confession
This is where it gets real. Our faith will be tested. Endurance is the advanced placement exam of faith. Can you hold on to God’s promise when everything seems to be going in the opposite direction?
When you’re in that gap, it’s war. The enemy will try to fill your mind with doubts and accusations. But 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 reminds us that we have powerful weapons to demolish those thoughts. Take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ.
Practical Steps to Stay the Course
Here are a few ways to engage in the life cycle of the Word:
- Study the Word: Set aside time and have a plan. Ask others how they study if you need ideas.
- Record What God Speaks: Write down how the Word applies to your life and what the Holy Spirit is saying.
- Memorize Scripture: Use it as a weapon when the enemy attacks.
When I’ve faced seasons where the harvest seemed far off, I’ve had to remind myself that God cannot lie. If He said it, I can stand on it. Shake off those doubts like Paul shook the viper into the fire.
Don’t Walk Away from Your Harvest
The enemy is terrified of your harvest. He wants you to give up and walk away right before the breakthrough – before you see the first blade poke up through the soil. But even if you’ve been carried away from your harvest, God can bring you back. It’s not too late.
Let’s pray together:
Father, we repent for doubting, for partnering with the enemy, and for speaking death over our harvest. We receive Your forgiveness, mercy, and grace. Strengthen us to stay the course until we hold the full harvest in our arms. We declare that we will not shrink back but will stand firm, believing that You are faithful to complete the good work You started in us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Friend, if this resonated with you, I’d love to hear from you. Leave a Comment and tell me what God spoke to you and what impact it had on your heart and life. I’d love to hear!
Until next time, keep sowing, keep believing, and stay the course. Your harvest is coming!
