Thought for the day: We have a High Priest who can be touched – so reach out and touch Him in worship and prayer.

Yesterday, during the worship service in my church, I saw myself bow low before the Lord.  When I saw myself do this, I saw it in my spirit.  And all at once, I realized that there is no distance in the spirit.  Just as we believe that when we pray for someone who is not with us that there is no distance in the spirit, so I realized that when I worship Jesus, I am face to face with him.  My spirit is as close to him as I will be in the flesh one day.  Just like the woman with the issue of blood who came and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and was healed, I reached out and touched the hem of the garment of Jesus.  I realized in that moment that all of his virtue was accessible to me in that place of worship.  The word says that we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched by our infirmities but he can be touched.

Hebrews 4:15 -For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.(emphasis mine) King James Bible

In the Old Testament, the high priests would offer sacrifices for the sins and defilement of the people, but they could not touch a defiled person until they were clean.  Jesus, on the other hand, allowed the sick and ceremonially defiled to touch him, to handle him, and to run to him for mercy and healing.  He never turned any away.  Instead of Jesus becoming defiled by those who touched him, He brought cleansing and healing to all.  Our High Priest is greater than all sin, sickness and infirmtity AND he has compassion on our weakness.

Hebrews 4:14 Therefore, since we have such a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.… Berean Study Bible

So today, know in your heart that when you worship and pray, that you can reach out and TOUCH the One Who is Lord of All.  And in touching Him, all of His virtue will flow into you just as the life of the vine flows into every branch.  The health of the branch is the health of the vine.
